HC Deb 11 February 2002 vol 380 c57W
Mr. Laws

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what statistics he has collated from English police authorities on their expenditure on purchasing private medical insurance for staff in each financial year since 1998–99. [32873]

Mr. Denham

[holding answer 6 February 2002]: Surrey is the only police authority which currently makes private medical insurance available to all its staff. The cost of the scheme, which began in November 2001, is about £550,000 a year.
