To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what proportion of the Department's budget in each of the last four years was not spent in the year for which it was allocated. [24774]

The Scotland Office was established in its present form on 1 July 1999. In 1999–2000 the Department spent 96.1 per cent, of its budget and in 2000–01 it spent 95.9 per cent.
