To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many arrests have been made in 2002 under the terms of the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001. [29854]

None. I would like to inform my hon. Friend that there has been no exercises of the powers of arrest in 2002 as of yesterday under the terms of the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001, but eight people were detained in 2001 under Part 4 of the Act.
