HC Deb 19 December 2002 vol 396 c915W
Mrs. Iris Robinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what obligations there are on employers to provide protection for an unborn child at the mother's workplace. [88070]

Mr. Pearson

Obligations on employers to provide protection for an unborn child at the mother's work place are provided through the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000. These regulations require employers to carry out risk assessments to identify hazards and take appropriate action to protect the health and safety of the expectant mother and her unborn child.
