HC Deb 18 December 2002 vol 396 c875W
Martin Linton

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what funding his Department has made available for rehabilitation services for brain-injury patients in London in each of the last three years; what funding he will make available for the next financial year; and if he will make a statement. [86281]

Mr. Hutton

The Department does not earmark funds for particular services, such as brain injury rehabilitation. Primary care trusts are responsible for ensuring that services for patients needing brain injury rehabilitation are in place. The configuration of this service provision, however, is a matter for local decision makers as they are best placed to understand the health needs of their local populations.

We would expect that the substantial extra funds this Government have provided to the national health service will help provide improved services for all patients including those needing rehabilitation after a brain injury.
