To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills how many vacant(a) deputy head teacher, (b) head teacher and (c) teacher posts existed in (i) primary schools, (ii) secondary schools and (iii) special schools in each year since 1997, broken down by local education authority. [47505]

[pursuant to his reply, 10 April 2002, c. 217W] The published figures were incorrect in that the figures for head teacher and classroom teacher vacancies in special schools were transposed for the years 1997 to 2000. The revised answer and tables have been placed in the Libraries.
