To ask the Secretary of State for Health what advice he has received from(a) the Royal College of Obstetricians and (b) the Royal College of Paediatricians on the annual numbers of patients per clinician which they consider to be necessary in order to ensure the safety and efficiency of treatment. The Department has not received any advice from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists or the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health specifying the numbers of patients a clinician needs to see to ensure the safety and efficiency of treatment.
