To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions (1) what discussions he has had with(a) representatives of the Strategic Rail Authority, (b) the Scottish Executive Minister for Transport and (c) others, regarding the SRA's decision not to run the 190 mph north-south rail link to Scotland; [51275]

(2) what assessment he has made of the impact of the SRA's decision not to run the 190 mph north-south rail link to Scotland on (a) the plans to increase the capacity of Scotland's railways, (b) the target Glasgow to London journey time of less than four hours and (c) the Government's 10-year transport plan. [51277]
