HC Deb 23 April 2002 vol 384 c222W
Mr. Bercow

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department which Bills introduced by his Department in the last five years have contained sunset clauses; and what plans he has for the future use of such clauses. [49622]

Angela Eagle

The following Bills introduced by the Home Office in the last five years contained sunset clauses:

  1. (i) The Football (Disorder) Bill introduced in the Session 1999–2000.
  2. (ii) The Terrorism Bill introduced in the Session 1999–2000.
  3. (iii) The Criminal Justice and Police Bill introduced in the Session 2000–2001.
  4. (iv) The Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Bill introduced in the Session 2001–02.
  5. (v) The Football (Disorder) (Amendment) Bill introduced in the Session 2001–02.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State (Mr. Blunkett) will consider whether a sunset clause is appropriate in the context of any future Bill.
