HC Deb 23 April 2002 vol 384 cc216-7W
Mr. Laws

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many employees in(a) his Department and (b) his Department's agencies and non-departmental public bodies have had private medical insurance provided for them in each year since 1997–98; what the total cost is; and if he will make a statement. [holding answer 6 February 2002]: The Civil Service Management Code prohibits Departments and agencies from providing staff with private medical insurance. Remuneration for the employees of non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs) is a matter for the non-departmental public body (NDPB) concerned and its sponsoring Department, subject to any statutory provision, but information about these arrangements in Home Office sponsored NDPBs is not collated centrally.
