HC Deb 23 April 2002 vol 384 c229W
Mr. Boswell

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what arrangements he has made for the publication of the annual report to Parliament on the implementation of the Learning Disability Strategy, with specific reference to the use of the Learning Disability Task Force and the occurrence of Learning Disability Week annually in June. [41998]

Jacqui Smith

[holding answer 12 March 2002]: Section 62 of the Health and Social Care Act 2001 requires my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State to lay before Parliament annually a report containing such information as he considers appropriate with respect to the development of health and social services for persons with learning disability".

I have agreed that the Learning Disability Task Force should report to me annually on its work overseeing the implementation of the proposals in the White Paper "Valuing People: A New Strategy for Learning Disability for the 21' Century" published in March 2001.

I am currently considering how the timing and presentation of these two reports can best reflect recent developments in the provision of learning disability services.
