HC Deb 19 April 2002 vol 383 cc1226-7W
Dr. Fox

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what proportion of the population of England has access to opportunistic chlamydia screening. [47849]

Yvette Cooper

The information is not collected centrally. A national chlamydia screening programme will start to be phased in later this year to reduce undiagnosed infections. The details of the programme are still being developed but will build on learning from the successful pilots in Portsmouth and the Wirral. The programme will involve opportunistic screening in healthcare settings such as community contraception and genitourinary medicine clinics.
