To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what estimate he has made of the(a) financial costs and (b) benefits to his Department of the Parental Leave Directive. [42481]

The information is as follows:

1. (a) There are no financial costs as parental leave is unpaid.
2. (b) The benefits include meeting staff needs, raising staff morale and ensuring the retention of experienced and trained staff.
