To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list those public bodies that are not designated for the purposes of section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998. [38295]

Under section 75(3)(a) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland has the authority to designate "any department, corporation or body listed in Schedule 2 to the Parliamentary Commissioner Act 1967…"

The most recent list of bodies under Schedule 2 to the 1967 Act totals 237. Of these, 26 have been designated and a further 39 remain under consideration. These are:

  • Central Bureau for Educational Visits and Exchanges

Under section 75(3)(d) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, the Secretary of State can designate "any other person". This is not a finite list and it is not, therefore, possible to list those bodies not designated under 75(3)(d).
