To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many women in England were given hysterectomies in an NHS hospital in the latest year for which figures are available. [46698]

The following information is extracted from the Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES) system, which contains details of patients admitted to, and treated in, NHS hospitals in England.
