As National Statistician I have been asked to reply to your recent question on estimating the GDP per capita growth of the English Regions and Wales in each year since 1997.The latest GDP per capita estimates for the countries and regions of the United Kingdom are available up to 1999, and were published as an ONS News Release on 27 February 2001. These data form the basis for the growth rates shown in table 1.Regional GDP data are only available on a current price basis.
