Whether they will send a photograph and background information on each child admitted to prison to the Missing Persons Helpline. [HL641]

We do not propose to do so. Other steps are taken to provide parental contact with children and young people in secure facilities. The national standards produced by the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales require youth offending teams supervising officers to maintain contact with the person's parents or primary carer.
