To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what are the operational priorities for the Government office for the east midlands. [9305]

The Government office for the east midlands has three strategic aims: to achieve a lasting better quality of life for people and communities in the east midlands socially, economically and environmentally; to encourage and enable people and communities suffering from, or vulnerable to, social exclusion to fulfil their potential; and to help the region, its people and its businesses continuously improve their capability to compete successfully.
