To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate he has made of the percentage of the Prison Service estate which will be privately managed by 2005; and if he will make a statement. [5104]

[holding answer 19 July 2001]: The estimated percentage is 8 per cent.; this represents 11 prisons out of a total of 138.
