HL Deb 26 November 2001 vol 629 c2WA
Lord Judd

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have studied the report of the visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo last August by the All Party Parliamentary Group on the Great Lakes and Genocide Prevention; what action they are taking in response to the group's recommendations; and whether they are producing a regional strategy paper on the Great Lakes region. [HL1388]

Baroness Amos

We have studied carefully the report made by the all party group. I look forward to discussing it and its recommendations when I meet with the group on 28 November. We have a flexible policy towards the Great Lakes, anchored firmly in the Lusaka and Arusha peace processes, which provide the only viable frameworks for lasting peace in the region.
