HL Deb 20 November 2001 vol 628 c125WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will ask UNESCO to name on its website the remaining religious buildings in the following categories: (a) Armenian churches in eastern Turkey; (b) mosques and churches in Kosovo; (c) mosques in Macedonia; and (d) churches in occupied northern Cyprus. [HL1189]

The Minister of State, Department for Culture, Media and Sport (Baroness Blackstone)

UNESCO's website contains details of those sites inscribed as world heritage sites under the World Heritage Convention. There are no world heritage sites in the categories listed. I understand, however, that UNESCO is currently planning for a programme of restoration of Kosovo's religious monuments.
