Jacqui Smith

[holding answer 5 November 2001]: The £300 million allocated to councils over this year and next is additional funding for social care. £80 million of this funding has been provided by the Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, and a further £20 million from Her Majesty's Treasury. The remaining £200 million will be found from unallocated funds within the Departmental expenditure limit.
