§ Lord Hyltonasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they will ask members of the European Union and the Commonwealth who have not yet done so to ratify the Statute of the International Criminal Court. [HL980]
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Amos)Yes. Only three members of the EU, Ireland, Portugal and Greece, have yet to ratify the statute. We are confident that they will do so soon in line with the commitments agreed in the EU Common Position on the International Criminal Court in June 2001. Fourteen Commonwealth countries have ratified to date. We shall continue our policy of lobbying the remainder at every opportunity.
