HC Deb 05 November 2001 vol 374 c51W
Helen Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills how many pupils attained five or more GCSE passes at grades A-C, by social class, in(a) grammar schools and (b) comprehensive schools in each of the past five years. [11629]

Mr. Ivan Lewis

The primary source of information on GCSE attainment broken down by school type and personal characteristics is the youth cohort study (YCS). The YCS is run in alternate years; estimates for the proportion who gained five or more A*-C grades at GCSE in 1995, 1997 and 1999 are provided in the table.
