HL Deb 10 May 2001 vol 625 c226WA
Lord Harrison

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What further help they can give to the BBC World Service, which has seen its audience rise by 15 million over the past three years. [HL2117]

Baroness Ramsay of Cartvale

The Government are making available an extra £64 million to the BBC World Service over the next three years. This will enable the World Service to take forward plans to modernise equipment and expand online and FM services. The Government will continue to give their full support to the World Service.
