§ Mr. Charles ClarkeThe use of the Royal Prerogative of Mercy to remit a prison sentence is a very rare occurrence and it is used only in exceptional circumstances. Partially as a result of its use in the case82W of John Haase, I commissioned a review of the exercise of the Royal Prerogative of Mercy. This was completed recently and I am carefully considering the findings and recommendations of the review report.
