In April 2001, the Immigration Appellate Authority received 87 cases for oral hearing and 136 cases for paper-only hearing.

The amount of family visitor appeals received by the Immigration Appellate Authority since (i) 2 October 2000 and 1 February 2001 in which the Immigration Advisory Service were identified as representing the applicant are as follows:

  1. (iii) Between 2 October 2000 and 31 January 2001 the Immigration Advisory Service represented applicants in (a) nine oral family visit appeals (b) four paper-only family visitor appeals
  2. (iv) Between 1 February and 30 April 2001 the Immigration Advisory Service represented applicants in (a) 31 oral family visit appeals (b) six paper-only family visitor appeals.

The current average time for this business year (April only), by the Immigration Appellate Authority to process cases from receipt to determination, are:

  1. (a) 6.43 weeks for oral family visitor appeals
  2. (b) 3.33 weeks for paper only family visitor appeals
  3. (c) 22.27 weeks for asylum appeals
  4. (d) 20.65 weeks for other immigration appeals.
