HL Deb 26 March 2001 vol 624 cc7-8WA
Lord Judd

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Following the speech by the Prime Minister to the World Wildlife Fund in London on 6 March, what inter-departmental arrangements will now be put in place to ensure that all the policies of the Government, including those for industry, transport, taxation, and agriculture, are consistent with the objective of a sustainable environment and future for Britain and the world community. [HL1223]

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (Lord Whitty)

Inter-departmental arrangements to ensure that government policies are consistent with the objectives of sustainable development are already in place through the work of the Cabinet Committee on the Environment and the Green Ministers' Committee, overseen by the House of Commons Environment Audit Committee.
