To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what representations he has received on the New Deal for Lone Parents. [150504]

Ministers from this Department and the Department for Education and Employment attended regional events last week in advance of the national advertising campaign for the New Deal for Lone Parents, which starts today. These events brought together employers and some of the over 200,000 lone parents who have participated in the programme.

Latest results show the number of lone parents dependent on Income Support continuing to fall and the number has fallen by over 100,000 since May 1997.
