asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in light of recent machinery of government changes, they will:

  1. (a) list all Whitehall directorates whose role is to inform government thinking on the challenges and opportunities that may arise out of medium to long-term future developments in the social, environmental, commercial and scientific or technological spheres;
  2. (b) state the aims and objectives of each of these directorates; and
  3. (c) explain the interaction between them. [HL344]

This information is not readily available because many parts of central government play a role in the development of forward thinking and policy on how to meet challenges in these areas and create or seize opportunities for positive change.
