To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the percentage change in the number of housing units built annually if VAT on new housing were increased to(a) 5 per cent., (b) 7.5 per cent. and (c) 17.5 per cent.; and if he will make a statement. [4398]

The Government have no plans to put VAT on new housing.
