I have been asked to reply to your recent question concerning the conception rate for under 18 year olds per thousand aged 15–17in (a) 1998, (b) 1999 and (c) 2000. (5235) The conception rate for under 18 year olds in England and Wales was 47.0 per thousand women aged 15–17 in 1998 and provisional figures for 1999 were 45.0 per thousand women aged 15–17. Data for 2000 are not yet available.
