HC Deb 17 July 2001 vol 372 cc156-7W
34. Mr. Dismore

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department what plans he has to review court dress. [2614]

Ms Rosie Winterton

Previous soundings from within the judiciary, the professions and court users have revealed a wide range of views on whether, and to what extent, court dress should be reformed. Given continued concern in some quarters, the Lord Chief Justice is consulting with the professional bodies. Once the results are available, the Lord Chancellor will consult with the heads of division and decide what action, if any, it would be appropriate to take.
