§ Malcolm WicksA maintenance assessment can be cancelled when the non-resident parent ceases to be a parent of the child to whom the assessment applies. The provisions for the new scheme have the same effect. When a child is adopted, the non-resident parent will normally no longer be treated as a parent of that child.
