To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if she will make a statement on the Government's plans to consult on amending the Working Time Regulations to remove the qualifying period for paid annual leave. [2077]

I am pleased to announce that the consultation has been launched. The Government are consulting on proposals to remove the qualifying period and introduce a system of accrual of the entitlement to paid annual leave in the first year.

I have placed copies of the consultation document in the Libraries of both Houses.
