§ Mr. Peter AinsworthTo ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what plans she has to reform the law governing the licensing of live entertainment. [82]
§ Tessa Jowell[holding answer 25 June 2001]: Our proposals for reforming the alcohol and public entertainment licensing laws were published in the White Paper "Time for Reform" (Cm 4696) in April last year. In May this year, following a public consultation, the Government confirmed their intention to legislate to introduce these proposed reforms, with one change concerning the procedure for appealing against adverse licensing decisions. We remain fully committed to bringing forward legislation to reform the alcohol and public entertainment licensing laws as soon as parliamentary time permits.
