To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will set out, with statistical information relating as directly as possible to the Slough constituency, the effects on Slough of his Department's policies and actions since 2 May 1997. [146930]

The Slough constituency has benefited from a range of Government initiatives since 2 May 1997 including:

The capital allocations for housing were made following assessments under the housing investment programme. Slough borough council was assessed as being "above average" in comparison with other south-east local authorities in the 2001–02 housing investment programme. Similarly, in 2000–01 the council was assessed as "above average", and in 1999–2000 and 1998–99 as "well above average".

Single Regeneration Budget

SRB Round 4 (1998–99) "People at the Centre of Slough"

£2 million awarded covering a wide range of projects to tackle social exclusion in the wards of Central, Chalvey and Bayliss.

SRB Round 5—{1999–2000) "Simply Stoke"

£1.6 million towards tackling social exclusion issues in two deprived estates in the Stoke ward in Slough.

SRB Round 6 (2000–01) "PRREDASI"

A bid of £100,000, led by Slough's Racial Equality Council, was successful for funding research and action planning to promote racial equality.

SRB Round 6—Thames Valley Enterprise

Slough in partnership with Oxford, Reading and High Wycombe were awarded £1.7 million towards social enterprise work.
