HC Deb 30 January 2001 vol 362 cc131-2W
Mrs. Fiona Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what radio services are available on the DAB system; and how many regular listeners there are to those services. [147447]

Janet Anderson:

National digital radio services are provided on the BBC multiplex and on Digital One's commercial multiplex. In addition, nine local multiplexes are now on air, carrying commercial and BBC programme services. A further three local multiplexes are soon due to launch and are presently conducting test transmissions.

Estimates of regular listeners are not available, but more than 20,000 digital radio receivers have been delivered to the UK market to date.
