To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what plans he has to support the development and use of bioaviation fuels. [145724]

Together with the airline industry and others the DTI is reviewing a modest proposal to investigate the use of a fuel derived from biomass as a substitute for aviation kerosene.

Such a fuel would need to meet the quality criteria for aviation kerosene.
