Police operational experience and research studies show that closed circuit television has considerable potential to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, particularly when introduced as part of a package of crime reduction measures.
The CCTV funding initiative under the crime reduction programme includes an extensive programme of evaluation that will add to the knowledge of where and in what circumstances CCTV is most effective.
