HC Deb 28 February 2001 vol 363 cc668-70W
Mr. David Davis

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many people(a) have died while on the waiting list for an operation and (b) have been removed from the waiting list as a result of death in each of the last three years. [151606]

Mr. Denham

[holding answer 27 February 2001]: The Department does not collect statistics on the number of people who have died while on the waiting list for an operation or the number of people who have been removed from the waiting list as a result of death. Data are collected on how many patients are removed from the waiting list without being treated, but these are not broken down in to the reasons why.
