A free and independent press is a vital element in the maintenance of democracy, human rights and respect for the rule of law in any country. HMG condemn the attack on theDaily News in Harare. The UK and the EU have called on the Government of Zimbabwe to bring the culprits to justice and to reaffirm its obligations to respect freedom of expression.
