What is their response to the report in the African Defence Journal of 28 January that three eastern-made anti-tank landmines were used in the recent bombing of the printing presses of the Daily News, Harare; and whether this implicates the Zimbabwean army and government in the bombing. [HL564]
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Scotland of Asthal)We deplore the bombing of theDaily News printing presses. We urge the Government of Zimbabwe to carry out an immediate investigation into who is responsible and to make good their undertaking to bring the culprits to justice.
