To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the average salary is of a middle band uniformed customs officer(a) based outside London and (b) based inside London. [149593]

The information is as follows(a) National Bands 4–7 (£13,240 to £19,700) (b) London Bands 4–7 (£14,398 to £20,728).

Because of the nature of their work, staff also receive additional payments that, typically, increase these levels of basic pay by around 30–35 per cent.
