To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will institute the Transport and Works Act 1992 procedure for consideration of the Central Railway project. [148754]

§ Mr. Hill
We cannot institute the Transport and Works Act procedure unless the scheme's promoters, Central Railway, formally apply to the Secretary of State for an Order under that Act. That is for them to decide.
