To ask the Secretary of State for International Development how much aid the UK Government will send to El Salvador following the recent earthquake; and how this money will be spent. [147371]

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what steps will be taken to provide additional foreign aid to El Salvador following the recent earthquake in that region; and if she will make a statement. [147582]

Mr. Mullin

The Department for International Development has contributed some £1.3 million for the purchase and distribution of vital emergency shelter, water and sanitation and medical supplies to those affected by the earthquake in El Salvador. This support is being channelled through the UN, Red Cross and a number of NGOs.
