HL Deb 19 December 2001 vol 630 c63WA
Lord Fearn

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many times the Tourism Forum has met since its inception; and what progress they have made in implementing suggestions and ideas made by that forum. [HL1992]

Baroness Blackstone

The fifth Tourism Forum was held at Tate Modern on 7 November 2001. The forum is primarily a vehicle for discussion, consultation and debate between government and representatives of the tourism and hospitality industry, rather than one that produces specific action points. The key issue for discussion at the November meeting was the reform and modernising programme for the industry following the foot and mouth outbreak and the events of 11 September. Following the forum, the Government, tourism agencies and the industry have continued to develop short and longer-term strategies for improving quality, service, data and marketing.
