§ Mr. JamiesonThe provision made for capital expenditure on local major road schemes and maintenance of local roads and bridges, and revenue funding for structural and routine maintenance of non-principal roads and routine maintenance of principal roads in each local authority in England in the period 1996–97 to 2001–02 is set out in the tables which have been placed in the Libraries of the House.
Information on expenditure on roads in each local authority in England in 1995–96 is not readily available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. The tables exclude provision for expenditure in 2001–02 on roads and road related schemes in London, the responsibility for which has transferred to the Mayor for London. Expenditure on roads and road related schemes in Wales is a matter for the Welsh Assembly.
