asked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they have finished considering Part III of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999; when they will give effect to Part III; and why this has been delayed. [HL1677]

§ Lord Rooker
No final decisions have been taken on the implementation of Part III of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 and the position remains under review. In particular, the implementation of the legislation will need to be considered in the light of the Home Secretary's recent statement on asylum and immigration and we would expect to address the issue in the forthcoming White Paper.
