HC Deb 26 April 2001 vol 367 c358W
35. Mr. Nigel Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what recent representations he has had from vice-chancellors and principals on core levels of funding for universities. [157944]

Mr. Wicks

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State receives representations about higher education funding from time to time from vice-chancellors and principals. Most recently, he has received a copy of the report of the Universities UK Funding Options Review Group "New Directions for Higher Education Funding".

The Government are increasing publicly planned funding to universities and higher education colleges in England by £1.7 billion over the six years to 2003–04: funding per full-time student will thereby increase in real terms in 2001–02 for the first time in over a decade.
